Grade 1 Braille Translator

Convert basic English letters, digits and common punctuation to or from uncontracted six-dot Unicode Braille with explicit capitalization and number signs.

Ready. Your working data stays in this browser.

Why this tool is useful

Use this translator to prepare or inspect simple uncontracted Braille examples while keeping the exact supported alphabet visible instead of implying full literary contraction support.

How it works

Encoding applies six-dot Grade 1 letter cells, a capital indicator and a number indicator; decoding tracks those indicators and rejects unsupported Braille cells rather than guessing their meaning.

Practical example

Encoding Hello 42! produces a capital sign before H, one number sign before 42 and Unicode Braille cells for the remaining supported characters.

Validation

The calculation is deterministic and explains validation errors instead of silently changing invalid input.

Privacy boundary

Input and output remain in this tab. Copy and download happen through browser APIs without a server upload.

Result passport

Every run reports its tool mode, timestamp and input/output size so transformed data can be audited.
