NATO Phonetic Alphabet Translator

Spell ASCII letters and digits with standard NATO words or decode validated phonetic tokens back to compact text.

Ready. Your working data stays in this browser.

Why this tool is useful

Use phonetic spelling to read short identifiers over voice channels or check that a code was heard correctly despite similar-sounding letters.

How it works

Encoding maps A–Z to the ICAO/NATO spelling alphabet and digits to English number words. Decoding accepts only known tokens and reports unknown words.

Practical example

YT becomes Yankee Tango; decoding Yankee Tango returns YT without guessing at unrecognized free-form speech.

Validation

The calculation is deterministic and explains validation errors instead of silently changing invalid input.

Privacy boundary

Input and output remain in this tab. Copy and download happen through browser APIs without a server upload.

Result passport

Every run reports its tool mode, timestamp and input/output size so transformed data can be audited.
