Refined Soundex Name Encoder

Generate variable-length Refined Soundex keys with ten consonant classes and visible vowel boundaries for spell-oriented comparison.

Ready. Your working data stays in this browser.

Why this tool is useful

Use Refined Soundex when the fixed three-digit Soundex key loses too much detail and a longer spelling-oriented phonetic signature is acceptable.

How it works

The browser retains the first letter, applies the published 0–9 US English mapping to every supported letter and removes only adjacent repeated mapping values.

Practical example

testing produces T6036084; unlike classic Soundex, zero vowel markers remain visible and the result is not truncated to four characters.

Validation

The calculation is deterministic and explains validation errors instead of silently changing invalid input.

Privacy boundary

Input and output remain in this tab. Copy and download happen through browser APIs without a server upload.

Result passport

Every run reports its tool mode, timestamp and input/output size so transformed data can be audited.
